Obligations regarding EU citizens' immigration
Citizens from a EU Member State or from another State signing the EEA Agreement who are going to reside in Spain for a period of more than three months, are obliged to personally request their registration in the Central Registry of Foreigners before the Foreigners’ Office of the province where they intend to stay or establish their residence or, failing that, before the corresponding Police Station
Such registration request must be presented within three months from the entry date in Spain. They will immediately be issued a registration certificate containing their name, nationality, address, and their NIE (Foreigner Identification Number), which is required to open a bank account and use the Spanish National Health Service.
To register you must follow the steps outlined below:
- Fill in online and print the following:
- Application Form; X-18
- Fee payment from: https://sede.policia.gob.es/Tasa790_012/
- Pay the €12 fee at any Bank or "Caja de Ahorros" by presenting the payment form. (IT IS NOT necessary to have an open bank account)
- Get an appointment here: https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/pagina/index/directorio/icpplus
- Go to the Central Police Station in Alicante with the following documents:
- Application Form.
- Payment form.
- One passport photo.
- Your ID card or Passport and a photocopy
- Your European Health Card and a photocopy
- Confirmation of your Erasmus status at Alicante University or registration at Alicante University certificate (make sure that your ID number in the letter is the same as the one you are going to present)
