Welcome to the website of the University of Alicante’s Centro Superior de Idiomas de la Universidad.
Who are we?
The Centre is located on the University Campus, a cosmopolitan community that hosts around 30,000 students, is amply endowed with green spaces and distinctively designed buildings and offers myriad facilities for students; all this just 15 minutes from Alicante city centre, in the heart of the Mediterranean.
It is within these idyllic surroundings that we offer our Spanish and Foreign Language Courses, as well as our Translation and Conference Organisationservices and other complementary services such asAccommodation, Cultural Activities, Language Visits y Grants for Study Abroad or Advice for Overseas Students.
We also organise preparation courses for official examinations in English, French, German and Spanish for speakers of other languages. We are an examination centre for several internationally recognised diplomas:DELE (Instituto Cervantes); French for specific purposes (Cámara de Comercio de París); and Romanian (Instituto de Lengua Rumana).
Mission
The Language Centre of the University of Alicante was established in 1995 as a tool and in-house resource of the university to promote its internationalisation, in a globalised world where the international nature of education and the importance of language learning are key to achieving the aims of any modern, quality university.
To fulfil this main objective, it offers various services to both the university community and other institutions, companies or individuals: Spanish as a foreign language courses; language courses; preparation and organisation of exams for official Spanish and English accreditations; organisation of conferences; management and advisory services for international researchers and students; accommodation and reception; organisation of trips and excursions, cultural activities, exchange activities, stays abroad, etc.
Thus, the Centre's mission is closely linked to that of the university in terms of internationalisation, language learning and the promotion of critical and intercultural citizenship.
Vision
We consider language teaching, and all the activities that complement it and make it possible, a fundamental part of Education, with a capital E, and, in the specific case of the university context, one of the keys to excellence and projection towards the future. A broad vision of competence in the real use of languages for the co-construction of knowledge and problem-solving, together with a firm commitment to multilingualism and intercultural awareness, are the pillars of our daily work, closely linked to that of the university as a whole, aiming to be leaders in training, innovation and social commitment.
